Next week I will be speaking about gratitude to a lovely group of ladies at the Women With Purpose Luncheon. In preparing for the talk I not only did some deep thinking about how I define gratitude, but I also chatted with some family and friends and asked what they believe it means to have a grateful heart. How do we define gratitude, and is our definition correct?

The thing about complaining is that it can always be rationalized. We feel pains, we feel betrayal, we feel overwhelmed… all real and sad and difficult. We deserve to vent about our hurts and frustrations, don't we?

Once in a while lunch at our house becomes a hodge-podge of tapas spread across our countertop. We all gather around the bowls and plates, pick and choose what we want from the selection before us, and chat about the afternoon ahead. I love meal times like these.

As Christians we know that the safest place to be is in God’s will. So what stops us from taking steps on the path He clearly wants us to be on? Why do we shy away from putting ourselves out there and being seen?
